Overnight Work Along Finch Ave. W. (October 2020 – end of 2020)

What?

As part of the construction of the future Finch West Light Rail (LRT) line, crews will work extended hours along Finch Ave. W. from October to the end of the year.

Overnight work will take place in areas along Finch Avenue between Keele St. Martin Grove Road. Crews are working overnight to advance the utility relocation activities for the project.

Works anticipated having higher noise levels or may cause vibration will be prioritized before 11 pm and noise and vibration monitoring will be installed, if needed.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Minimal overnight noise from construction equipment as well as site lighting can be expected.
  • Noise and vibration monitoring will be installed, as required.
  • Overnight work between Keele St. to Norfinch Dr./Oakdale Rd. includes:
    • Activities to rebuild and relocate underground electrical system
    • Storm and sanitary sewer installation, and
    • Telecommunication relocations.
  • Overnight work between Martin Grove Rd. and Signet Dr./Arrow Rd. will consist of:
    • Watermain, storm and sanitary sewer installation
    • Relocation of duct banks and manhole construction
    • Activities to rebuild and relocate underground electrical system
    • Telecommunication relocations.

Works will vary by location and we will distribute area specific notices with information about the type activities taking place in your neighbourhood prior to the start of work.

WORK HOURS:

  • Extended work hours will be from 6 pm to 6 am, approximately.
  • Extended work hours will be ongoing until the end of 2020. Overnight work is expected to continue in 2021 and more information be shared closure to the end of 2020.
  • This work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
