Join Mayor David Miller, Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, and the Emery Village BIA on Environment Day, which will be taking place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Medallion Construction Site, located at the Southeast corner of Finch Avenue and Weston Road (former Canadian Tire Site). You will have the opportunity to drop off your used household items for recycling, and receive free leaf compost for your spring planting. Some items that will be collected that day include small household items like dishes and ornaments, books, linens, clothing, art supplies, broken VCRs, cell phones, computers and other electronics. Bring your leftover cleaning supplies and solvents, motor oil, paint, old and unused medication, mercury thermometers/thermostats and pesticides, for safe disposal. Recycling containers will be available for purchase, for exchange with broken ones or for free to new residents (with proper proof of new residency and identification). Water efficiency tools will also be available for sale, such as rain barrels and indoor kits. There will also be a paint exchange; you can bring some paint in or take a look at what’s been dropped off and help yourself. For more information visit the Community Environment Days page on the City of Toronto Website.
